38 million Americans struggle with food insecurity every day yet 40% of food produced in US is wasted every year. Move for Hunger is a national not for profit organization that has created a sustainable way to reduce food waste and fight hunger.  Move for Hunger has helped transport 24 million meals over the course of the last 13 years – half in the last 3 years.  And now you can help too.

LivNow Relocation has brought the Move for Hunger Program to Senior Living Communities and their incoming residents to help reduce food waste. LivNow will implement the program at the community and connect them with our LivNow Certified Movers and Professional Organizers, who have agreed to participate in the program.  Residents of the community will be able to donate any unopened non-perishable food throughout the year.  Incoming residents will also be able to participate in the program during their move.  When it comes time to move most people discover, as they clean out their cupboards, that they have excess food or food they don’t need or perhaps want.  If you put this food to the side or in a box, your LivNow Certified Mover or Organizer will pick up the food on move day and take it back to their warehouse to be weighed.  Once a month they will deliver it to your local food bank and together LivNow Relocation and Move for Hunger will track the amount of food donated to the local food bank on behalf of the residents and the community and report back at the end of the year.

LivNow is proud to be able to offer the Move for Hunger program to all our Senior Living Partner Communities.  Together we can help reduce food waste and feed the hungry.  Now that’s ‘a good move’!
